ABBOTSFORD - The Langley Trappers defeated the Abbotsford Pilots in Game 5 at MSA Arena on Friday night by a score of 5-3. Two-goal scorers were seen on both sides as Baylee Wright of the Pilots and Trevor Sundher of the Trappers both found the net twice. Kristian Lyon stopped 52 out of 55 shots en route to his clubs’ third straight postseason win, and third win in franchise history. The Trappers have now bounced back in the best-of-7 first round series and lead 3-2.

1st Period

With the lowest ranked playoff power play coming into Friday night (1/32, 3%), the Pilots managed to capitalize on their first chance of the evening. Baylee Wright (5) beat Kristian Lyon with a seeing eye shot from the point at 7:59, assisted by Jake de Waal. Nearly two minutes later at 10:04, Roy McClure (1) took a rink-wide bank pass from Jamie Housch and slipped it past an out-of-position Lyon to make it a 2-0 game. Langley responded with two consecutive goals of their own from Casey Whintors (1) at 11:33 assisted by Braden Warburton, and later at 13:14 from Trevor Sundher (2) with helpers from Dustin Withrow and Adam Nobes.
